Five-Year Old Kindergarten
BIBLE - Each school day begins with Bible class, a fun time of singing Bible songs and learning Bible stories. The highlight of Bible time is the memorization of God’s Word – a verse for each letter of the alphabet. Students and parents alike enjoy this opportunity to hide God’s word in their heart. Weekly Chapel times are scheduled for 5K – 2nd grade that provide students with the privilege of hearing wonderful, age-appropriate speakers that bring the Bible to life. Parents are welcome and encouraged to attend with their student.
READING - An outstanding Kindergarten reading program provides a great foundation for the future. Five-year-old students learn to recognize and write the letters of the alphabet along with their sounds and actually begin reading by December. Students love the Reading Contest that takes place in the Spring and are very motivated to read. Their reading ability really begins to grow during this exciting two weeks.
ARITHMETIC - Besides reading, your child will learn to count by 1’s, 2’s, 5’s, and 10’s to 100 and recognize the numbers before and after and other arithmetic facts. Children also develop valuable habits and social skills through daily experience. A Beka curriculum is used to produce above average results.
SPECIAL CLASSES - In addition to the quality academic program offered, 5K students participate in weekly Music and Spanish classes. There are also many opportunities in the classroom for art projects, computer time, and other activities that promote developmental growth.
ENRICHMENT - Monthly classroom parties are held to celebrate the Birthday Students of that month. Room mothers coordinate these fun times with the help of other parents.
Field trips and on-campus guests provide additional enrichment to the kindergarten curriculum.
